Kai = Best Online Teacher. I’ve played Classical for a few years and Flamenco 6 months. I’ve watched a lot of fire players poorly explain their techniques. Kai is different. Not only is he a terrific player, he takes the time to properly explain the techniques/counts/feel you need to play flamenco. If you’re lucky enough to find a decent flamenco instructor and take personal lessons, do that and use this as a supplement. But if you can’t find someone, these lessons are the next best thing.

I learned flamenco the old-fashioned way, back before the internet. By the time I went to Berklee to study theory and stuff, I’d already been playing flamenco for almost 10 years. Seems that the combination of learning flamenco first, then studying music, all combined with being the kind of person who likes to analyze things, made me really good at helping folks understand how flamenco works. And that’s what we bring to Flamenco Explained – a method of explaining this amazing art form in a way that actually makes sense to people who didn’t grow up playing it.
